First Snow

Being the Californians that we are, we don't see snow unless we travel to the mountains. On Saturday we took and impromptu trip to Lake Tahoe and rode the Heavenly Gondola up to the top of the mountain. Monkey and Peanut were absolutely thrilled by this new thing called snow.

And being the Californians that we are, I had no gloves for my kiddos, so both were a bit shocked and not a little ticked off when their hands got cold (don't worry, we were only at the top of the summit about 10 minutes). Monkey thought it was worth it to be cold if that meant he got to bean mom and dad with snowballs.
On Sunday we went to a birthday party for Aaron's Dad and on the way home saw the most spectacular rainbows. There were double rainbows and at one point we were able to see a full rainbow, but I just couldn't capture it all with my camera.

We were living in Hawai'i at the time, and one spring I took my youngest son home to Calif for a visit. We went to Tahoe for the day (at Heavenly too, but on the NV side). In flip flops, in shorts, in the snow. My then 4 year old SCREAMED with disgust over the snow. It never occurred to me that he didn't know it was cold. I guess he thought it was just another from of sand. Ahhh Californian's... gotta love us, eh!

Loved reading about your adventure to the snow... brought back a lot of happy memories!

Heh, we lived in Hawaii when I was a kid, too! One winter we came to visit wearing our shorts and t-shirts and my grandparents met us at the airport with sweaters, coats and jeans for us all because we didn't have any. lol. whatta life!

How funny. I'm happy to be finally done with the snow and you are happy to be finally in it!

Isn't it funny when they get mad? I mean sad, no funny.

Thank goodness it is restricted to the Sierras, I am very angry with Mother Nature this year. I've been cold for far too long for a flatlander Californian. I'm glad the kids got a kick out of it. Snow should be for special occasions only.

I love seeing rainbows. If I have the time I stop to watch them until they fade away. When I was little my mom made a good sport one rainy afternoon to see if we could find the end of the rainbow. That was a lot of fun. We ended up with ice cream cones. :)
